In 1912 Master Stringed Instrument Maker Emile LAURENT (1875 - 1925) founded his instrument making workshop at 6 Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau in Bordeaux. He passed it on to his former employee Amati MANGENOT (1901 - 1965) in 1925, and Mangenot ran the workshop until his death in 1965. His widow kept the business running for the next two years, before in 1967 calling upon the services of Pierre TACONNE (1930 - 1996) who for almost twenty years had been workshop foreman at the Maison VATELOT in Paris. In 1969 Taconné sent his son Patrice (born 1953) to Mirecourt to serve his apprenticeship, placing him at the "APPARUT-HILAIRE" workshops under the guidance of Master Jean EULRY. In 1972 Patrice TACONNE entered the workshop of Master Frédéric BOYER; two years later he rejoined the workshops of his father Pierre. When he himself took over, Patrice TACONNE called upon the services of his former assistant Benoît GUILBAUD, who joined him to become workshop foreman. The Maison has long continued to uphold the quality and traditions of French stringed instrument making.
